On Sunday

Pastor Dave asked Lauren and I to tell our testimonies together in 10minutes on Sunday morning. Both of us in 10 minutes?! yikes- we'll try.

As many times as Ive told my testimony to people, it never gets old. However, when I tell it I want to make sure people see the powerful hand of my God at work, what He has the power to do, and how He has the power to make things new. Now that I get it, who I was before Him- who He is, and the life we can have through His son, because of the sacrifice He made for us.

Here is a exert of what I want to share Sunday morning, it probably wont sound exactly like this, but lets face it- I'm not going to get up there and wing it. I'll get nervous and ramble.

So… I guess before I even knew I was going coming to JMU to start a new chapter of my life, I had started to change my ways, and tried to make better choices about life. Then you could say by divine intervention, because I don’t believe in coincidence, God had JMU accept me, and Lauren suddenly had one open bedroom in her apartment... so we decided to move in together. Things were going okay, except things that I thought were left in the past started to creep back in, and I gave in to them. That December of my junior year at JMU, I broke down, or maybe you could say it was when God cut me down. I had become bulimic again and the thing about eating disorders is that most of the time people have them because they want to control something. I was so eager to share this with yall this morning because this is a problem for so many, and not just girls, statistically speaking if there are 400-500 people in here right now, 40-50 of you know what I’m talking about…and I want you to know, there is healing, and there is hope, and there is freedom that God is waiting for you to live in through His spirit. Well I believe God had enough of that, and it was time to hand over the control, I was not doing a very good job with the reins anyway. I let my secrets be exposed to my roommates, and I sought help from a God I had always believed in but never trusted with my life. He had protected me for so long, and now he wanted to make me His so I could produce fruit for Him, you see He had allowed me to make those choices in the past because ultimately they were going to bring me straight to Him, and I praise Him for that. I stepped out on that faith, and once I had started repenting, completely changing my heart and mind about things, I just started pursuing Him through His word hardcore the next semester, He had given me a new heart, and the calluses and hardness that had been built up was totally taken away, and replaced. God led me to Aletheia that summer, where I have learned more about Him, His word, fellowship, and family than I could have ever imagined. I immediately started getting discipled by Amy, whom God has given such a gift to minister to women, and going to Ann & Jenny’s bible study, two women that I consider to be some of my biggest role models. I want to be a Godly woman, no more secrets, no more living for myself- since let’s face it I don’t know what I'm living for in the first place, if it isn't Him. I found a purpose and a passion so strong it is honestly hard to do anything else sometimes and it is to live for Him- giving Him all glory and praise due unto Him.

If you are in the area, Come out to Aletheia Sunday morning for awesome fellowship, Bible teaching, food, worship, and to hear the rest of how God has been working in Lauren's life, and mine.

Please pray for us- Pray for the people that would come out to hear and want to let God's forgiveness, and love force them into surrender, that our stories would have an impact on someone/peoples lives for His honor.

Love.
