There is Gonna Be a Wedding

What comes to mind when you think of our God?

Does Husband? Or Bridegroom?

In no way shape or form do I understand the entirety of the imagery that entails with this example, but I do know there are multiple places throughout scripture that Yahuah gives the example of His people being His bride, and our Messiah the bridegroom. Here are a few:

Matthew 22:1-14
1 And Jesus answered and spoke to them again by parables and said: 2 “The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son, 3 and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they were not willing to come. 4 Again, he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding.”’ 5 But they made light of it and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his business. 6 And the rest seized his servants, treated them spitefully, and killed them. 7 But when the king heard about it, he was furious. And he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. 8 Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. 9 Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.’ 10 So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests.
11 “But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment. 12 So he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. 13 Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and[a] cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
14 “For many are called, but few are chosen.”

Hosea 2:14-16
14 “ Therefore, behold, I will allure her,Will bring her into the wilderness,
And speak comfort to her. 15 I will give her her vineyards from there,And the Valley of Achor as a door of hope; She shall sing there, As in the days of her youth, As in the day when she came up from the land of Egypt. 16 “ And it shall be, in that day,”
Says the LORD, “ That you will call Me ‘My Husband, And no longer call Me ‘My Master,

Revelation 19:7-9
7 Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” 8 And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.
9 Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.”

We have a tendency to forget that our hearts were made to be wooed. We need to be reminded of the reality of the love that transformed us, the love that captures us, the love He has for us. Sometimes we get going through the motions of "Christianity" or whatever, and we know what its supposed to look like to be a "good christian" but what do our hearts look like? Do they need to be awakened? Do they need to be reminded? Do they need to be circumcised? Sometimes mine does...

"We will all be romanced by something, if we aren't romanced by the gospel, if we aren't romanced by HIM, we will be miserable, we will live in spiritual boredom. We'll go through the motions, but our hearts wont be in it. We'll be bored with God and look for pleasure in other things, people, addictions, etc. We cant go to other things to find pleasure.". -Jamie Burns

Matthew 22:8 Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy.

When the bridegroom comes back are we going to be ready? Are we going to have enough oil to go with Him? Will we have been waiting, watching, anticipating? Will we have invited others to go to the wedding? I want to be waiting. He is lovesick for us, He doesnt demand our love, He doesnt need our love, but He does desire it., and He certainly deserves it.


Matthew 22:14 “For many are called, but few are chosen.” I want to be chosen, I want to be considered worthy of such a love affair, of such an event.

We cannot trade an earthly romance, for our eternal heavenly romance.
If we're single do we daydream more about an earthly wedding than we spend our time preparing for the wedding feast with our ultimate bridegroom?
If we're married do we devote more of our heart to our eternal husband than we do the man Yah blessed us with?
Let's not forget who made our hearts, wooed our hearts, knows our hearts, who owns our heart.

Any romance outside of His, is just an incredible blessing. He did put a longing in our heart to desire love, oneness, connectedness, that's one of the reasons He made marriage for earthly man and woman so that they could experience that holy union. However, its that divine romance that we need to be focused on. Its His love that matters most. Its His love that made it so we could be reconciled to Him. Its His love that nailed our sins to the stake. Its His love that forgives us and cast our sins as far as the east is from the west. Its his love that fulfills, completes and sustains.

Its His love that is so beyond understanding we'll spend our whole lives trying to get it. I pray that He would reveal Himself to us, that He would knit our hearts to His, that we would know Him and realize that NOTHING and NO ONE on this earth compares to knowing Him.

Get ready. Our bridegroom is coming. I cant wait to enter His gates with thanksgiving and praise. Can you?
